Foundation Stage visit to church

On Tuesday Foundation 1 and 2 visited Reverend Whaley at The Church of the Ascension. The walk to the church was very interesting and we noticed different things in our local environment. At the church Reverend Whaley told us about the first Christmas when Jesus was born in Bethlehem.  We enjoyed all the songs and walking around the church as we sang "Here we go up to Bethlehem". Thank you to all the grown ups for joining us and to Reverend Whaley for having us at the church.

Stunning Shakespeare

5CO stunned the audience tonight with their fantastic performance of 'Romeo and Juliet' at the Shakespeare for schools festival. The children blew people away with their powerful projections, amazing acting and superb stage craft. All the children really gave it their all and were amazing ambassadors for our school. Special thanks need to go to Mrs Covello and Mrs O'Connor for all the hard work they have put into directing the performance. I feel really honoured to have been asked to support them today for their dress rehearsal and performance and I am sure every family member who attended were as proud of their children as I was.
Photos and videos of the event will be appearing on our interactive screen at the school entrance in the coming week.
Thank you for the wonderful entertainment you provided us all with, 5CO.

F1 Phonics Song

In F1 we sing this song each day to help the children learn letter names and sounds, as well as capital and lower case letter shapes.  We use the jolly phonics actions for each letter.

New Build Update

Since the school's electricity has been turned back on and we are all functioning at full capacity, the building of the new school continues. Here are some photographic updates of the construction site.
All the remnants of the digging of the foundations. (above)
The builders are moving special moulds that will create the foundations.
The moulds will be lined up and concrete poured between them and then left to set.
 More of the moulds.
The site viewed from the main playground. The metal grids in the foreground are to help support the foundations of the building.

More updates to come...

DRET Summer Cup 2015

On the 1st July 2015, Wold Academy took 38 children to Grantham to participate in the DRET Summer Cup. At this event the children competed against 21 other schools in sports, including; swimming; hockey and a range of track events. Despite the 33 degree heat, the children were well behaved and really enjoyed their day. The staff who took them were really proud! The athletics teams came 4th and the Hockey team came 2nd. Two  of the swimmers made their way into the finals as well. WELL DONE!
