Parent days in F1

Recently in F1 we invited Parents in for Maths sessions. We had lots of maths learning activities in our environment both indoors and outdoors.
We invited our parents to join the children during our number and calculating maths lessons.
The lessons taking place for number were:-
-Number Detectives
-Number chant
-Treasure Track
-10 in a bed
The lessons taking place for calculating were:-
-Hook a duck
-Squeeze and Squirt
-Show me
-Number and Count
The children had lots of fun with their Parents and we enjoyed sharing our learning with them. Many of our parents filled our our comment forms and said they had enjoyed the sessions and will be trying many of the activities at home.
To follow on from our open sessions we will be doing mini maths home/school challenges next half term.

Hedgehog Visitors!

Year Two have had another brilliant visit to help with learning. This time it was some hedgehogs from the Hedgehog Care centre in Louth. Our new friend, Frank, brought Stanley and Stephanie, two gorgeous hedgehogs that had been rescued and nursed back to health. Frank told us lots of interesting information - some of it quite sad! Do you know that in 1965 there were 30 million hedgehogs in the United Kingdom but today there are only about 1 million? Some of us were lucky enough to hold the brother and sister hedgehogs, but they were very quick to roll into a ball when they felt threatened.
We were so pleased Frank came and hope to see him again.

Primary North Foundation Cup

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 netball and football teams for representing Wold so well at the event. It was a fabulous day and everyone should be proud of the wonderful team spirit and the second place we achieved. The netball team are now inspired to play regular team matches and a special mention to the football team who won every match and did not concede a single goal.

Book Bus Charity Visit

We had a special visitor in our KS2 assembly – David Gordon who is the director of the Book Bus Charity. He talked to us about how he takes buses packed with books that we might take for granted, to areas of the world where children do not have easy access to books. He has visited Africa, Asia and South America and has given many children the opportunity to read some amazing books.
